Transcona BIZ goes to great lengths to keep our neighbourhood looking gorgeous year-round! During the Summer months, the BIZ plants a variety of flowers including petunias, begonias, guaras, banana plants, zinnias, coleus, lobelias, and tut grass in large planters and hanging baskets throughout the Zone. This is made possible with the help of our seasonal Community Ambassadors, who not only arrange and plant the floral displays, but are also responsible for their ongoing care, as well as weeding and lawn mowing around the Zone. In 2013, the Transcona BIZ was unanimously nominated and honoured to receive the Take Pride Winnipeg’s 16th Annual Winnipeg in Bloom Contest award.
As Winter approaches, the summer floral arrangements are replaced by colourful winter hanging baskets filled with greenery and bright baubles. Transcona Centennial Square is transformed into a magical place with string lights overhead, large Christmas trees adorning the Clock Tower entryway, and a skating rink in the middle. Shooting stars and festive lights can be seen along Regent Avenue, creating an inviting Downtown Transcona for everyone to enjoy.
