Title: “Preparation for the Journey Ahead” Artist: Cat Hues (Pink Panda)
Medium: Spray Paint
Year: 2022
Location: First Transcona Scout’s Hall, 110 Winona Street
The mural on the Transcona Scout’s Hall received a huge overhaul! We were able to work together once again with the extremely talented Cat from Pink Panda Creative. Taking notes and careful consideration to what being a Scout means, she was able to bring this beautiful mural to life.
“Because the building is very wide, I went with the idea of trying to tell a story. I started with a landscape camping scene at the far left that transitions into the imagery that represents the energy of Scouting. I used splashes of water to tie in the beaver and the camping landscape. The water element is a part of Scouting as well as symbolizing the beaver’s home in the lakes and rivers. I wanted the howling wolf cub along with the beaver to be bright and colourful with the abstract energetic vivid colours and lines that signify the lasting energy that scouting brings to the lives of scouts as they are prepared for what the world has to offer.” – Pink Panda
