Dan Sawatsky is responsible for four of the murals around Transcona. Restored in 2010 by local artist Tom Andrich, “Transcona Shops” depicts work in the Transcona Shops and showcases how proud the community is of its railway origins, indeed, without the Transcona Shops, Transcona would not exist as it does today. The artist uses colour, light, and bold lines to suggest mood and locale, a technique that is very distinctive and recognizable across North America.
