The Safety Enhancement Program is intended to help Transcona BIZ Members protect their business, staff and customers by reducing crime and increasing safety in the Transcona BIZ zone. The Transcona BIZ Board of directors has allocated up to $20,000.00 in 2025 for this program.
Funding Available
The BIZ will provide 50% up to a maximum of $2000 in the form of a matching grant to eligible Transcona BIZ members.
Program Eligibility
The BIZ shall support physical safety enhancements that focus on, but are not limited to, the following: Any items that would be considered regular maintenance. door locks, etc., assisting the business in deterring theft, providing exterior safety protection or prevention, Improving customer comfort and safety
Eligible Projects (the following are examples, things not listed may still qualify): video surveillance, lighting, re-enforced glass or window films, alarms, fences and gates
Ineligible Projects: Things that would fall under the Storefront Improvement Program, anything that will take away from the neighbourhood aesthetics, such as bars on windows/doors
